The project “AYO” project promotes greater participation of all young people with the aim of creating social impact in the whole community.

Although there are programmes to support the inclusion of people with disabilities, the project partners identified needs through their experience with young people with disabilities, where they observed that the percentage of young people with disabilities involved in youth activities is still very low, mainly due to the lack of preparation of the entities and training of youth workers.

Thus, the project consists of a strategic alliance where they share good practices on accessibility in youth organisations and through an analysis they have implemented a guide on the aspects to be assessed to make European youth organisations more accessible.

In addition, it also responds to the need for actions that aim to show, impact and/or aware society in general to certain aspects, situations and moments of life in which the fundamental rights of young people with disabilities are not respected.

For this purpose, the project:

  • Developed and implemented a methodology of good accessibility practices through co-operation and implementation of joint initiatives between European youth bodies in order to promote the skills of youth workers and youth employment.
  • Supported youth workers in developing and exchanging effective methods to reach out to young people with disabilities.
  • Created awareness among companies in general about certain aspects, situations and moments in life when the fundamental rights of young people with disabilities are violated.

This project is supported in the frame of the Erasmus+ European programme.
