Celebrating the Success of the SOOS Project

The Sons of Silence (SOOS) project, dedicated to addressing youth and gender violence, has officially come to a successful end. The final newsletter reflects on the project’s key achievements and initiatives implemented over the past 2 years.

Key Highlights from the Final Newsletter:

  • Project Conclusion: The SOOS project has come to an end, with this newsletter covering the final meeting of the project, final events in all partner countries, and the implementation of the Peer-to-Peer Volunteering Program.
  • Final Transnational Partners Meeting: The final Transnational Partners Meeting of the SOOS project was held on June 12, 2025, at the Sedaví Town Council in Valencia, Spain. Representatives from all partner organizations gathered to review the project’s key achievements and finalize strategic deliverables.
  • Final Events Across Europe: Multiplier events were held in Cyprus, Portugal, Germany, Italy, and Spain. These events focused on raising awareness of domestic violence, empowering youth, and sharing the project’s resources and findings.
  • Peer-to-Peer Volunteering Program Launched: The Peer-to-Peer program was officially launched, introducing a series of presentations, brochures, and scenario-based materials designed to help individuals recognize and respond effectively to domestic violence. The resources specifically targeted young people and parents or caregivers, offering practical examples of how to support a friend or a child who may be experiencing abuse. The Peer-to-Peer program is available on the project website and consolidates all the insights, knowledge, and experiences gathered during the LTTAs and online meetings.

Key Messages

This document proposed an intervention strategy focused on addressing the impact of domestic violence (DV) on young people, particularly those who are indirect victims within the community. This strategy involves collaboration with stakeholders and institutions that are part of the national network. Also, in the program is available the content for the establishment of a comprehensive Volunteer Program.

“If you or someone you know is a victim or a survivor of domestic violence, you can ask for help. Reach out, ask for help!!” – SOOS consortium
